Meet Our Team

Brian Luhmann, PsyD, LMFT

Dr. Brian Luhmann (CA#LMFT107647) is a California-licensed Marriage and Family therapist. He is an alumnus of Radford University (Virginia), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, minoring in Economics. He earned his Master of Arts and Doctorate of Psychology in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

 

Dr. Brian serves on the faculty of Hope International University (HIU) as an Associate Professor in the Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy program.  At HIU, Dr. Brian specializes in faculty and curriculum development, serves as a dissertation chair and mentor, and teaches courses on Professional Development, Family Theories, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Substance Abuse, Marriage and Family Therapy Assessment, Treatment Planning & Case Conceptualization, Lifespan in the Workplace, LGBTQ+ Safe Zone, and Mindfulness Practices.

 

His clinical experience includes working in the public school system, in substance abuse detox and residential treatment centers, intensive outpatient clinics, field-based crisis stabilization, outpatient psychiatric clinic, and a trauma center. 

Dr. Brian is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant.

 

Dr. Brain is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.

Crystal Ishihara, PhD

Dr. Crystal Ishihara serves New Normal as a business and leadership consultant with an expertise in regulations in higher education, change management, team building, and leadership coaching.  Dr. Crystal earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Advertising from Hawaii Pacific University, a Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Business Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  Dr. Crystal also earned a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University.

Dr. Crystal has supported clients with projects focused on efficiency improvements of policies and procedures in a higher education setting, and facilitated retreats focused on communication, conflict management, and leadership development within both in personal and virtual teams.  Dr. Crystal has also delivered professional presentations focused on conflict management.

Dr. Crystal is also the author of Shitty Bosses and Asshole Employees (Don’t Read This Book) which is available for purchase through Amazon (e-reader, physical copy, and Audible).  In the wake of the shelter-in-place orders of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Crystal adopted the content of the text into a video series to expand the scope to include virtual teams.  Both resources can be found through our resources page.

Our Therapy Services

  • We offer therapy for Individuals, Couples, or Family

  • Modalities include: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnosis, Motivational Interviewing, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Gottman Method (Level 1), Mindfulness Practices

  • Services are offered in the state of California virtually and/or in-person in Orange County

  • Session Rates are dependent on use of Insurance

  • In-network Insurances Include: Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Kaiser

Our Consultation Services

  • Consultation for EMDRIA Certification and Consultants in Training (CIT)

    • Rates: $120/hour for individual consultation or $50/hour for group consultation

  • AAMFT Approved Supervision

    • Rates: $120/hour for individual consultation or $50/hour for group consultation

Our Business Consulting Services

  • Assessment and implementation of policies and procedures regarding academic regulatory compliance

  • Team Interventions that are tailored towards group needs based on assessment

  • Early identification and prevention of Burnout
